(December 23rd 2020) Christmas 2020 will be a Christmas like no other! The staff of Tallaght University Hospital have produced a short video message for the community to thank them for their efforts and dedication in suppressing COVID-19 and remind everyone that we need to continue to hold firm. See the video here: https://youtu.be/UUPAtWQos3Q
From last Friday (December 18th) to December 27th restrictions are easing and you can meet with up to two other households and travel outside your county.
Meeting people increases your risk of getting COVID-19 and spreading it to others. The more people you meet up with, the higher the risk. Follow the public health advice to protect yourself and others:
- wash your hands properly and often
- practice social distancing
- cover coughs and sneezes
- avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth
- wear a face covering when shopping, dining out or in busy indoor places
Lucy Nugent, Chief Executive of TUH said: “I know we are all looking forward to life returning to normal. Until that time, as we all hopefully get to take a break over Christmas we all need to remember that we have a role to play in keeping COVID at bay. We need to remind our loved ones and friends that COVID won’t take a break so hand hygiene, cough etiquette, mask etiquette and keeping your distance need to remain at the forefront of our minds.
If you are meeting people over the next few days remember this carries a risk of catching COVID-19. Please remember the public health advice that we have been following this year and don’t let your guard down. Think about how much risk you want to take and how you can reduce it. On behalf of the Hospital Board and staff at TUH thank you for your support this year and every best wish for you and your families for what I know will be a different Christmas for all of us."
